Prayer for our Kids Day 29 – Prayerfulness

“Grant, Lord, that my children’s lives may be marked by prayerfulness, that they may learn to ‘pray in the Spirit’” (Ephesians 6:18).

The whole verse of Ephesians 6:18 says, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

When I think of praying in the Spirit Romans 8:26 comes to mind, “Also, the Spirit helps us with our weakness. We do not know how to pray as we should. But the Spirit himself speaks to God for us, even begs God for us with deep feelings that words cannot explain.” I am overwhelmed with thankfulness upon reading this, how sad our lives would be without the Holy Spirit in us!

Also, I recently started reading “The Prayer of Jabez” and have been praying about it and spending a lot of time thinking about his prayer. I highly recommend reading Jabez’s story, it’s short , a whole two verses, 1 Chronicals 4:9-10. The power in those verses is amazing though; we see a great example of the power of prayer.

Josh and I have been studying prayer recently and have been amazed at what we see in the Bible with how powerful prayer is and how much we feel changed through prayer. Helping our children see the need for prayer in their own lives is so important. Let’s pray over them and pray out loud throughout our days that our children will learn how to pray just be being around us and that they will grow up being around something so natural and powerful.
