Day 40 of 40 Days of Prayer for America

Target: Understanding American Government
Romans 1:28 even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

Founding Father Quote: “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion.  Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
-John Adams

Prayer: Father in Heaven, You have given us a form of government that works for the good of the people if the system is not abused, if the people who are placed in positions of power honor the commands found in Your holy Word.  Clearly we have wandered far from the precepts found in the Bible, and we are a nation in need of a Savior.  We humbly ask that this be the year for change in our great nation.  May America be restored to her former glory, as we honor You for the good things You have so graciously bestowed upon us.  May the government of these United States be shaken to her very foundation until each member comes to know You as Lord and Savior.  May Jehovah God once again rule and reign in these United States.  Amen.

We thank John Hagee Ministries for this daily flow of prayers and encouragement.

Day 32 of 40 Days of Prayer for America

Target: National Unity
Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Founding Father Quote: “…that Heaven may continue to you the choicest tokens of its beneficence that your union and brotherly affection may be perpetual; that the free Constitution which is the work of your hands may be sacredly maintained; that its administration in every department may be stamped with wisdom and virtue; that, in fine, the happiness of the people of these States, under the auspices of liberty, may be made complete by so careful a preservation and so prudent a use of this blessing as will acquire to them the glory of recommending it to the applause, the affection, and adoption of every nation which is yet a stranger to it.”
-From George Washington’s Farewell Address

Prayer: Lord, Your Word says that where two or more come together, there You are in the midst of them.  We come together now and thank You for all the good and perfect gifts You have given us.  We know that You are our only hope for national reform, and in You we move and live and have our being.  Without You we are nothing.  We ask You, Heavenly Father, to unite us as one nation under God again.  We need to become a strong united front for righteousness in our country so that we can defeat the foes that constantly plague us.  Instead of focusing on foreign enemies, we have turned inward and begun to fight amongst our own brothers.  Please forgive us for our foolish choices, for choosing petty arguments over harmony.  May we be reconciled to each other, and may Your love be the healing balm that makes this country great once again.  In Your Son’s Name we pray and ask.  Amen.

Day 27 of 40 Days of Prayer for America

Target: Reform
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Founding Father Quote: “[T]he rational and peaceable instrument of reform, the suffrage of the people.” -Thomas Jefferson

Prayer: Heavenly Father, if we are Your children, we must lift the banner of Your commandments as the standard we unashamedly endorse, both in our public and private lives.  We must endorse the candidates You have put in a position of power by casting our ballots.  It is not only an honor and privilege to do so, but our duty as Christians.  May our judgment no longer be clouded by the mandates of the world, but may we begin to seek You with our whole heart, never settling for second-rate substitutes.  Send Your Holy Spirit to empower us as we seek complete reform in our nation’s infrastructure.  It is only by Your grace that we can prevail.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
