Day 18 of 40 Days of Prayer for America

Target: Military
Nehemiah 4:9, 13-14 Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.

Therefore I positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the openings; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows.  And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them.  Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

Founding Father Quote: “I urge you by all that is dear, by all that is honorable, by all that is sacred, not only that ye pray but that ye act.” –John Hancock

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we pray for our military today as we acknowledge the importance of national defense.  From the founding of America, You have guided the great military minds who have faithfully led our troops to protect and defend our freedoms.  Ironically, we have used these very freedoms to allow other gods to come into our country and to hold a place of honor.  We have brought shame upon ourselves as we have dishonored Your holy name.  Our military machine has been prevented from its righteous purpose because You are no longer held as its Master Strategist.  Lord, forgive us.  Take charge of our military and give unprecedented wisdom and courage to our military leaders.  May they do what is good and right in Your eyes.  Protect and provide for our military troops and their families for the sacrifices they make every minute of every day.  May the remnants of our freedoms be preserved, and those that have been lost, restored.  Raise up godly leaders within our military, that we might once again secure our national borders and protect the freedoms we have so callously taken for granted.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 13- Prayer for America 10.10.12

Target: Enterprise/Industry
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Founding Father Quote: “Oh how I wish the people would awake up from their lethargy and come out soul and body for Christ…the more my ideas develop, the more beautiful and grand seems the plan I have laid out to pursue, or rather the one God has destined for me… (Let us pray that the Lord will completely guide us in all things, and that we may gladly be led by Him.)” -George Washington Carver: Born a slave in 1864, he became world renowned, addressing presidents and kings.  As a scientist at Tuskegee Institute, he discovered 300 uses of the peanut and 100 uses of the sweet potato.

Prayer:  Jesus, You are the Creator of the universe, and all good and perfect gifts come from above.  You have formed man in your own image, as a creative being.  Forgive us, Lord, for allowing our own foolish greed and selfish ambition to precede our desire for You.  Your Word clearly says to seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness, and we have sought everything but You.  We are a people in search of a purpose, when You have given us a design destiny that we have all but avoided.  May we return to seek Your perfect will and purpose for our lives.  Today, we call on Your hand to direct us in every future endeavor, that whatever we put our hands to will prosper to the glory of God the Father.  Reveal to us the person You would have us to be.  We seek Your face, expecting that Your supernatural revelation for our lives is already on the way.  You have given us a future and a hope, and we ask now that You begin to birth that hope anew in our hearts.  Bless us in our businesses, that the work we do will bring honor and glory only to You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

11 of 40 Days of Prayer for America 10.8.12

Target: Court System
Psalm 2:10 “Now therefore, be wise, O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth.  Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling.’

Founding Father Quote “While we are using the means in our power, let us humbly commit our righteous cause to the great Lord of the Universe, who loveth righteousness and hateth inequity.
-John Hancock, Signer of the Declaration of Independence, President of Congress

Prayer: Father, our judicial system has become prolific in spreading unrighteousness throughout our nation.  Your Word says that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.  Our nation is in a state of turmoil, because we have been unfaithful to follow Your commands.  Because of our foolish choices, we now have men and women with no regard for your Word in seats of judgment.  We have allowed the laws of our land to become perverted by these rulers, when we should have spoken up during local, county and national elections.  Forgive us for our silence.  We humble ourselves, Lord, and ask for Your merciful intervention.  If we are to survive as a nation, we need to change the ungodly policies that are currently in place.  Though we deserve Your judgment, we are asking for a full pardon.  We have become a nation who has turned her back on You.  We ask that, like David, You renew a right spirit within us, that you return us to the one true God of our forefathers.  May the judges and attorneys that walk the hallways of our courthouses put You first.  May the lawmakers put You first.  May Your outstretched arm once again cover us as a shield.  And may Your blessing be upon our lawmakers as they take us back to a country that is one nation under God, for the people and by the people.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
