“Father, help my children not be like many others around them, but let them be alert and self-controlled in all they do” (Thessalonians 5:6).
Even though today’s topic is self-control I’m finding myself focused more on Father’s grace in my life. I am so thankful for it, so blessed by it.
I had no idea how challenging it would be to pray for my kids every day. I mean, praying for them isn’t the hard part. It’s the personal convictions that have come with each day’s topic that are hard. It’s realizing the weight I carry as their mother, their example. Each morning as I pull up that day’s verse I am taken back by the realization that I need to pray for help in this area in my own life first, and then go through the day praying over them.
I am realizing the importance of praying not only for each day’s topic, but also that they will be stronger than I am, that my kids will look to Father as their example and not me, and that He will be their compass in life.
