Colossians 2:2-3 …be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ.  In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Founding Father Quote: “…I know that my Redeemer liveth…I am not interested in science or anything else that leaves God out of it.”  -George Washington Carver

Prayer: Father God, we have removed Your hallowed Name from the door posts of the very universities established to honor You.  We have kicked You out of our elementary, middle and high schools and allowed idolatry to infiltrate the hallways that train our children.  Your Word says to train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.  But we have left our first love and allowed wickedness to reign supreme in our school system.  We have taken your Commandments off the walls.  We have banned public prayer to you, but allowed other religions to pray to their own gods.  We have completely disobeyed the command telling us to have no other gods before You.  We ask for Your forgiveness, and that You have mercy upon our children.  May they not inherit the blame for our foolish choices.  Forgive us for locking You out of the school house, for taking Your Word out of our text books and instead allowing alternate learning to replace our Christian values.  Forgive us for not standing up for what we know is the good and the right thing to do.  Lord, turn our hearts back to the Bible, back to the Source of all knowledge and wisdom.  May our children take on the minds of Christ.  May they choose the path that is narrow, even in a world full of ridicule and hatred for Your followers.  It is only through Your help that we have even the remote possibility of regaining our schools.  We ask that You allow us the opportunity to once again place You first in our schools, that we may bring honor to Your name.  Amen.

How great is our God.

“The universe, they say, is so vast, it makes man utterly insignificant. Why would God have bothered to create such a microscopic speck called the earth and humanity and then get involved with us? Beneath this question is a fundamental failure to see what the universe is about. It is about the greatness of God, not the significance of man. God made man small and the universe big to say something about himself. And he says it for us to learn and enjoy—namely, that he is infinitely great and powerful and wise and beautiful. The more the Hubble Telescope sends back to us about the unfathomable depths of space, the more we should stand in awe of God. The disproportion between us and the universe is a parable about the disproportion between us and God. And it is an understatement.” (John Piper, Don’t Waste Your Life, 34)

15 of 40 Days of Prayer for America

Target: Illegal Immigration
Lamentations 5:1-2 Remember, O LORD, what has come upon us; Look, and behold our reproach!  Our inheritance has been turned over to aliens, And our houses to foreigners.

Founding Father Quote: “No country upon earth ever had it more in its power to attain blessings than United America.  Much to be regretted would it be were we to neglect the means to depart from the road which Providence has pointed us to so plainly.  I cannot believe it will ever come to pass.” -George Washington

Prayer: Father God, we have become complacent and neglected to protect our precious “American way of life.”  Our Founding Fathers used direct quotes from the Bible in 34% of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  The cornerstones of our very existence as a nation are based upon Biblical principles.  These formidable documents were intended to encourage Americans to live their lives according to Your Word or forfeit our blessings to the enemy.  Forgive us for allowing unrighteousness to infiltrate our society and to threaten our very existence.  We have not been good stewards of our borders.  Help us to secure our national borders and enforce the immigration laws currently in place.  May those wishing to become a part of our United States choose to enter legally, and may they bring with them a deep respect for our Judeo-Christian values.  In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.

Day 13- Prayer for America 10.10.12

Target: Enterprise/Industry
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Founding Father Quote: “Oh how I wish the people would awake up from their lethargy and come out soul and body for Christ…the more my ideas develop, the more beautiful and grand seems the plan I have laid out to pursue, or rather the one God has destined for me… (Let us pray that the Lord will completely guide us in all things, and that we may gladly be led by Him.)” -George Washington Carver: Born a slave in 1864, he became world renowned, addressing presidents and kings.  As a scientist at Tuskegee Institute, he discovered 300 uses of the peanut and 100 uses of the sweet potato.

Prayer:  Jesus, You are the Creator of the universe, and all good and perfect gifts come from above.  You have formed man in your own image, as a creative being.  Forgive us, Lord, for allowing our own foolish greed and selfish ambition to precede our desire for You.  Your Word clearly says to seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness, and we have sought everything but You.  We are a people in search of a purpose, when You have given us a design destiny that we have all but avoided.  May we return to seek Your perfect will and purpose for our lives.  Today, we call on Your hand to direct us in every future endeavor, that whatever we put our hands to will prosper to the glory of God the Father.  Reveal to us the person You would have us to be.  We seek Your face, expecting that Your supernatural revelation for our lives is already on the way.  You have given us a future and a hope, and we ask now that You begin to birth that hope anew in our hearts.  Bless us in our businesses, that the work we do will bring honor and glory only to You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 12 Prayer for America 10.9.12

Target: National Protection
Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, and the people whom He has chosen as His own inheritance.

Founding Father Quote “The great pillars of all government and of social life are virtue, morality and religion.  This is the armor, my friend, and this alone, that renders us invincible.”  -Patrick Henry, Patriot Leader in the American Revolution, Governor of Virginia.

Prayer:  ”Lord God, You chose a specific people and this particular parcel of land to create the United States of America.  It is evident that Your grand design was implemented when creating the fabric of our nation so many years ago.  While our nation was in her formative years, we honored You and Your Word and were a protected and prosperous people.  But as time and sin have had its way, we have become the victims of our own folly.  We have become a nation full of deficits, vulnerable to wars in our own home lands.  We beg for Your forgiveness and mercy, that we might return to You, once again doing things Your way.  Thank You Father, that You are our Great Hope and the source of ultimate victory in an otherwise chaotic battle.  May we dwell in the secret place of the Most High God, and abide in the shadow of the Almighty.  May we say as a nation that God is our refuge and our fortress, and in Him will we put our trust.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
